Digital advertising produces 3.7% of global greenhouse emissions, which is emitted from the various devices and systems used to power the internet and its supporting technology. In regards to sustainability, there are ways for digital advertising companies to reduce their carbon footprint. On the supply side, products don’t have to be advertised on a multitude of sites, which can lessen the amount of data shared and decrease the impact on the planet. Smarter advertising is needed to reduce the carbon footprint of digital ads.
