Jordan Schenck is the Chief Brand Officer at Flashfood, a technology company working to eliminate retail food waste by connecting consumers with great deals on food nearing its best-by date. Food retailers in Canada and the USA send 40% of their food to landfills. That means expired fruits, vegetables, meat and packaged items past their best-by date are being thrown out when food prices are at an all-time high.
Jordan shares how Flashfood and its app solve this problem by partnering with different retailers. Grocery stores that are about to throw away products are able to publish their goods on the Flashfood app, and consumers can buy their goods for at least 50% off the retail price. Flashfood is a great solution because both sides are happy: the retailer can still make money off of food that would otherwise go to waste, and consumers can shop at a discounted price.
